As part of the qualification procedure for the national events, the next ranked swimmers following the British qualifiers were invited to compete at the Swim England National Summer Meet (August 5-9 2022). All swimmers performed to the best of their ability and were an absolute credit to this club.
BOK is hugely proud, that the following swimmers qualified to race in these individual and team relay events:
English Nationals Qualifiers
Gracie Beaumont 100 back; Maisie Catt MC 50, 100 and 400 free; Luke Clegg 200 free 200 back; Isabel Farmer 100 free; Evie Lambert MC 50 free, 100 breast 100 back; Daniel Jackson 100 free; Ruby Knight 400 and 1500 free; James Plant 200 IM; Jessica Smelt 50 and 200 free; Georgina Wright 100 breast.
Time and again the swimmers impressed with their refined swimming skills, strategic racing plans and well-deserved results.
There were some outstanding results. Luke powered home in both the 200 free and 200 back final, but it was in the latter than he showed immense grit and determination leading to the top spot, a four-second improvement, and a gold medal! Evie and Maisie both won an amazing three final places. Maisie won a bronze medal in MC 400 free, a fabulous second second PB and fifth place in MC 100 free. Evie came first – gold medal winner – in MC 50 free (knocking five seconds off her MC 100 back time was just as impressive). Jessica swam in two finals and fought hard to achieve third place, an improved time, and a bronze medal in 200 free. Daniel and Georgina both performed well in their finals with Daniel racing to fourth in 100 free and with an improved time.
Well done indeed to all those who took part, and a huge thank you to the coaches and team managers for all your support over a very busy few weeks.
