Despite a snowy start, all of our swimmers managed to make it to Leeds for the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Gala, on 23 November and it was certainly worth the effort of getting there, with a wonderful medal haul of 8 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze and 12 personal best times!! (We understand from our athletes that the water was “very cold” so that might have contributed to faster-than-usual swims, but we are going to put it down to some excellent training sessions!!). This was Daniel Jackson’s final event with Special Olympics. He has been a member of our squad since he was 7 and we have had the privilege of watching him grow (both in height and ability!), and we wish him all the very best as he continues his swimming journey with the mainstream BOK competitive squad.
