British Summer Championships and ASA English Summer Nationals 2019 Results

BRITISH SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS- Following the qualifying window in March- May Swimmers were invited to compete based on national rankings. The top 24 in each age group and event were invited to compete at the Summer Championships in July, with the exception of the 800m and 1500m events where the only top 18 are invited. BOK are very proud in 2019 to have 7 British Championship qualifiers plus our ladies 4x 200m free relay team. The 2019 British Summer Championships took place across six days at Tollcross ISC in Glasgow from 23–28th July.

7 BOK athletes qualified and competed in 15 individual races and achieved 5 finals including 1 Bronze medal.

Congratulations to finalists and medallist- Jonathan Booth- Bronze -MC 100m Free and finalist for MC 400m Free,100m back, 100m fly. Also to Rebecca Thornton who ended her swim career in style reaching the final for her 400m free.

Huge congratulations also to Avril Bowler, Chloe Hirst, Emily Brook, Georgina Wright, Ruby Knight who all achieved the required British ranked places to be invited to compete.

Also, BOK Ladies team qualified and competed in 4x200m free relay- BOK team- Alexandra Woodhead Chloe Hirst, Emily Brook and Lillie Bryant put in a fantastic performance in a very fast event!

Additionally, The next 20 ranked swimmers at English affiliated clubs – or those who have chosen to be ranked as an English swimmer –were invited to compete at the ASA English Summer Nationals with the exception of the 800m and 1500m events where the only top 17 are invited. Swimmers competed in Sheffield for the Swim England National Summer Meet 2019. This competition is from 31 July – 4 August.

BOK are very proud to have had 11 BOK swimmers competing in Sheffield for the Swim England National Summer Meet 2019. BOK competed in 35 Individual events reaching 19 finals and taking home 1 gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

Congratulations to finalists and medallists- Aliya Bacakoglu -Silver MC 100m Fly and 200m IM. Also reaching finals for MC 50m,100m and 400m Free and 100m Breaststroke. Avril Bowler Finalist 50m, 100m Free, Chloe Hirst Bronze 100m Fly, Emily Brook, Finalist 100m Fly (achieving a BOK record in the process), and also 400m IM, Georgina Wright- Gold 50m Breaststroke, Penny Hobson finalist 50m and 200m Breaststroke, Ruby Knight Bronze for 400m and 800m Free and finalist for 200m Free, Ben Croft Finalist 50m Backstroke, Brandon Cartwright 10th HDW 1500m Free and Luke Smith Finalist 50m Back.

Huge congratulations also to Alexandra Woodhead who also achieved the required English ranked places to be invited to compete.
