Performance Swimming in Kirklees

Excellent results at the Masters National Championships!

The Swim England National Masters Championship (25m) took place at Ponds Forge in Sheffield from 28th -30th October. 14 members of the KAL Swim Performance Masters squad took part in the event represent Borough of Kirklees Swimming Club. A wide range of individual events were entered, as well as 6 relay teams.

A total of 3 Silver, 2 Bronze and 9 top 10 places were achieved. One of the Silver medals came in the 4×100 Mixed Medley Relay team, made up of Beatrix Langara, Daniel Cross, Stephen Bottomley & Sarah Coatsworth. There were outstanding individual performances from Susan Teale, with 2nd in 50 Butterfly setting a BOK record, 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 4th in the 50 Freestyle as well Sally Shields taking home Bronze in the 50 & 100m Breaststroke in their respective age groups.

Swimmers from the KAL Swim Performance Masters squad take part in a variety of events throughout the year and have had some excellent results. Beatrix Langara took a Gold in the 50m Breaststroke at the British Masters Championships held in Aberdeen back in July, as well as a Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke. The GB Masters Open Water event was held in September and took place in Wales, Sarah Coatsworth won a Gold medal at this event.

KAL Swim Performance has a thriving and welcoming Masters section for adult swimmers who wish to train and complete, members range in age from 18 through to swimmers in their 70s. The sessions cater for a wide range of abilities, speeds and distances.
